Just to be Thankful for the little things

Yesterday during work I was craving sweet potato soup. Don't ask me why... So I found this great recipe on the Internet. After work I ran to the store to buy all of the ingredients for this amazing soup that was making my stomach churn from hunger. I got home and quickly started chopping veggies and boiling my ingredients. Finally came the last step of pureeing all the ingredients in a blender. It smelled so good, it was 8:00 at this point so you can imagine how hungry I was. I called Trevor in to taste my master piece. Just as I lifted the container of the blender base the bottom fell off and the hot soup exploded all over me,half the kitchen and my dog Nixon who was eagerly waiting below for a taste. I just stood there is complete shock with Trevor standing by me with huge surprised eyes. After I cried for a second to Trevor I grabbed a spoon and tried a taste of my soup from the heaping pile on the counter. I wish I would have thought to take a picture of the explosion.
The point to this whole story is that I realized I could have flipped out and have it ruin my night. Instead I realized that there are worse things that could have happened and I might as well make the best of it, maybe be grateful for the funny memory and not the loss of so much food. I have also been thinking of how grateful I am for so many blessings and happy things in my life. Every Thanksgiving at my house we all go around the dinner table and say a few things that we are grateful for. I will be with Trevor's family this year so I wanted to share with all of you what I am grateful and so thankful for.

#1 Family & Friends
Nothing beats a good girls day with my mom and sisters. It's those simple phone calls from a friend that turn into hours of catch up that help you remember how good it is to have great friends.

#2 Health
Sometimes we don't stop and thank God for our feet and legs that keep us walking, our eyes that see the beauty in this World, our hands that can hold the things that mean the most to us.

#3 Cell Phones
How could I call the people that mean the most to me without it. I know this sounds a little silly but if you really think about it they keep us connected to each other.

#4 Great Doctors
My doctor at the U of U Infertility clinic and his nurses have been so kind and patient. They answer even the stupidest questions and always make me feel like I'm not just a "statistic"

#4 Spirituality
I have never been one to share my testimony unless I'm forced to in a sacrament talk. I think that's why we were called to speak 3 times in one year in our last ward.. But in all honesty the knowledge and amazing feeling I get when I am in the temple has never compared to any felling I have ever had. I am so grateful to have made it there, I now can't deny the truth.

#5 A roof over my head
It is in this cold season that I think of all the people that don't enjoy the simple comfort that I do each night. My warm bed, a hot bath and a thermostat that I can crank up when Trevor isn't watching.

#6 Internet
This blogging World has helped me stay connected to the people in my life that I would love to see more but with our busy lives this is our way of communication. The fun comments, reading the fun stories of each family and their experiences. Surprisingly blogs have helped me get to know each and every one of you more.

#7 The great outdoors
I absolutely love to hike and bike and be outside. After a long day of work Trevor and I load the dogs in the truck and head up the canyon. There is just something so calming about the mountains.

#8 My sweet husband
God really held out for me to be with a great man. I couldn't have found anyone else who truly treats me with ut-most respect and love.

This post is so similar to one I just recently did but I thought that the holiday called for another GRATITUDE post. I hope that everyone has a great Thanksgiving...

I hate when that happens! (It has happened to me twice! Ugghh!) We must have bad luck with blenders??? Anyways, I love the post I think it is great to reflect on all that we HAVE instead of what we DON'T.

You are so adorable! If only you could rub some of that good attitude onto me! I for sure would have cried all night if that happened to me!
Loved your gratitude list! I have to agree and say I'm thankful for all those things too!
